Florence Falls – Licence to Swim

A short distance away from Buley Rockhole is a track that leads to the viewpoint platform for Florence Falls. This majestic multi-tiered double waterfall cascades down from an elevation of 64 metres (210) ft) above sea level. It’s one of those rare waterfalls at Litchfield National Park that is crocodile-free, which makes it safe for swimming.

Pretty bush flowers spotted during the 7-minute walk up to the lookout point.

From the lookout point high above the falls, spectators are treated to panoramic views of the open valley, monsoon vine forest and waterhole below.

For hikers, there are two easy walks to choose from – the ‘Shady Creek Walk’ with a distance of 1.2 kilometres (0.75 miles) return and the ‘Florence Creek Walk’ with a distance of 3.2 kilometres (2.0 miles) return.

    1. No, I didn’t swim at all in the Northern Territory for fear of crocodiles! Just didn’t want to take the risk of going home without a limb or two! NT is a really exciting place to visit if you like the outdoor lifestyle. If I ever get the chance , I would like to travel there again. So many undiscovered trails, wild life and raw beauty all around. 🙂

      1. Your are welcome Helene. I am very well, thank you. Just busy with thesis and work. 🙂 I hope to see more of your amazing posts.
